UC Davis Today: Aggies stay active
Aggies stay active
A healthy lifestyle is important to UC Davis students, who enjoy participating in physical education classes, intramurals, club sports, intercollegiate athletics and many other activities.
One of the region's premier fitness facilities, the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC), provides a welcoming environment for students to meet their fitness goals.
The ARC features rock climbing, weightlifting, dance, table tennis, racquetball, martial arts, personal training, group exercise classes and a variety of cardio machines. Operated by Campus Recreation and Unions, the building includes a climate-controlled indoor walking/running track, basketball and volleyball courts, study lounges, meeting places for student clubs and technologically advanced conference facilities.
Other amenities include a full-service coffee house and a Fitness and Wellness Center, where students can receive individually tailored advice to help them lead healthy lifestyles. Students are able to start a safe regimen with a personal trainer or set up an appointment with a dietitian to learn healthy nutrition tips.
With facilities and programs like those at the ARC, UC Davis offers students many ways to keep fit, relax, learn and have fun.
Students work on an “academic exercise” as they battle over the ball during the World Cup Soccer game between Spanish 2 and 3 on The Quad. The language classes can use only their team's national tongue in the game and speaking English is a penalty. Gregory Urquiaga/UC Davis photo
